You win by the electoral college you die by the electoral college. That wouldn't start a civil war lol. Industrialized democracies are effectively civil war proof because it would destroy all the wealth of the nation and literally every business and foreign interest doesnt want that.

Yeah, if it looks like hes losing expect Trump to plant doubts about the quality of the election. But even in a hotly contested election hes not going to have the institutional support to overturn the final verdict without the supreme court ruling in his favor.

Biden winning the electoral college because electors overturn the democratic verdict of the voters in their states would be as close to a coup as you could get without tanks in the streets of DC, lol.

The final verdict by the voters should determine the outcome of the election, not the political party of the swing state governors, the mood of individual electors or the question of who has more institutional support.

Imagine the inverse scenario: Trump has narrowly lost the EC, and then convinces a handful of electors to vote for him, against the outcome in their state. Would you (or any other liberal) accept this outcome or consider it an (in your own words) "rock solid constitutional way to swing the election"?

When I say constitutional I mean its legal. As in no court would overturn it unless the state has a law mandating the electors vote the way the state wants them to. People would definitely be mad, but Biden would be the winner and no court would overturn it. Arguably that would be exactly within the founders design lol

2020: where faithless electors are a more likely scenario than just getting people registered for mail in ballots and winning.

people wouldnt just be mad, you would have violent riots across the country and these faithless electors would have to spend the rest of their lives under witness protection protocols.

regarding the founders: back in the day, something like 80% of the population were illiterate and lacked the basic tools to make an informed choice.

He isn't talking about being in a lumber yard or driving a race car. He looks fully alert and oriented.
