Yeah, it's too bad that herd immunity is being tested in a country with such a low population density (even if most live in the cities).
Further, unless they are purposely infecting everyone, it's really not a good test of herd immunity anyway.

I mean if someone wanted to test for herd immunity on say... lab rats, they would infect all in one group, and let nature reign in the other group. THEN you would have an accurate result to the herd immunity question.
I doubt Russia is testing the "lab rat way", so anyone claiming that Russia is supporting the herd immunity solution without these two groups in isolation from each other, will at best glean only tabloid level results and at worst be wholly ridiculed by their peers.


/e Also, you can't run a test like this on only one generation. I would think for a decisive answer, you would need at least 3-4 generations, with each generation re-exposed to the virus. I guess you could also just keep re-exposing a single generation as well.

Afaik, the Netherlands are also taking a lax approach, and they have very high population density. The UK also doesnt have curfews yet, so that's another high population high density country.

I think what's being done, in general, is a fairly decent balance between dealing with CV 19, and keeping civilization from crumbling.
The only thing that wasn't done, that probably should have been, was to completely shut down the stock markets as soon as CV 19 appeared on the horizon.

It seems that politicians everywhere decided to make some money, first. :/

Our approach is most definitely not herd immunity. If anything, that could be a side-effect of the months to come.

The idea behind our current approach is to make sure the healthcare system is able to handle the load. Which next week is going to be fairly critical for.

3rd world medicine is currently in progress here. Complete disaster across the entire country with nothing remotely resembling a plan. Every hospital in the country is doing things differently without any leadership or guidance. Changed to droplet precautions solely because it’s been accepted there aren’t the resources in place to treat it appropriately as airborne

Some hospitals still quarantining physicians with possible exposure for 2 weeks, even tho potentially 30% of positive patients are being sent to the floor without any precautions whatsoever. Just chaos, all eyes on WA, CA, and NY. This week will be telling. Trump can’t send a hospital ship to the Midwest

I work in a state hospital in a highly rural state. We already had hall beds on the floors and in the ED on a daily basis before all of this. We aren't ready for this.
