I'll try it again...m o r e - s l o w l y, this time...

Obama had 8 YEARS to get his economic plan going, Trump has had 8 months. Yet Trump is showing faster growth.

/e Yes, the Reps fought Obama, but no-wheres near like the Dems have fought with Trump.

Yeah, the democrats have agreed to oppose everything trump does because trump said it.

Trump can't even get his own party on board for anything. It hasn't been the democrats holding him back. .. it's his inability to understand political realities.

thats not a fair comparison. obama inherited a big crisis from bush, and this is dragging down his average a lot. the correct baseline is the growth during the last or the last two years of obamas presidency, i.e. around 2-2.5%.

Man FDR really overperformed after inheriting that whole Great Depression crisis

Growth rates tend to be stronger from after a recessionary period as markets seek to re-attain and eclipse their pre-recession performance levels

yes, but not many years after a recession. during the last one or two years of obama's presidency, the "recovery effect" only played a minor role imho.

Just saw a segment on MSNBC reporting that Trump's deportation policies might create a labor shortage for the Houston rebuild, because illegals will be scared to go work at job sites. Just for fun the host offered the argument that Americans could do these jobs, and the commentator explained it would make the rebuild cost more.

This is just one example explaining why Trump won. So insanely out of touch.

not just that, we could just as well grant mexicans a one-year work visa to come to houston, officially work on the construction sites, and then go home with a, by mexican standards, big paycheck in their pockets.
so even if immigrant workers would really be needed for the rebuilding efforts, there is absolutely no reason why these immigrants would have to be illegals...

Well, illegals only do jobs Americans won't do, like dishwashing, housekeeping, construction, etc. /s

I guess a lot of media people never knew someone who did those things for a living, so they assume it's just illegals doing them.

This.

This type of contract-type work would be a very good idea to deal with the illegal immigrant problem as whole. I'm from eastern Europe and honestly i wish here in the US we had the similar type of contract work migration there is in Europe. Workers from poorer EU countries head to some of the richer ones, work for 3, 6, 9 however many months and then return back home.

Imagine if illegal workers all over the southwest had the same type of employment, where they're paying taxes, documented, not abused or taken advantage of? It's a win win.

You folks ever heard of the National Guard...or the Army, or the Coast Guard?

This is a disaster, not building a 7-11 down the street. The govt. can easily call in any of these folks for accredited disaster areas, which this already is, by govt. decree.
Furthermore Trump has already told Mexico, that the folks the send to help will need to go back to Mexico afterwards. Just like any other country that sends or receives help from another country.
