Sending a commander to prison for 20 years in a process where definitive, exonerating proof was suppressed and disregarded by the prosecutors will... "hurt the military" and "impair the justice system"? Are you kidding?

I hope they're kidding. Cause if not, I would be forced to wonder about their sanity and their outright unfriendliness to the United States.

Well, it doesnt surprise me that Fender wants a commander who blew up Taliban guys to go to prison... wanting western people to submit themselves to islamistic aggression and expansionism without fighting back neatly fits into his agenda.

yes of course, your idiotically biased oversimplification of those cases surely beat the concerns of top pentagon brass, including trump's own secretary of defense. everyone outside the cult just has "TDS" - and that's the only reason anyone would ever object to anything your emperor does...

seriously, you people...

Which "top pentagon brass" are we referring to... by name, please.

what seems more likely: you getting your #alternative facts on this wrong because of your sheepish devotion to the orange draft dodger, or a whole legion of high ranking taliban and islamist terrorist sympathisers in the pentagon, including trump's secretary of defense?

From the first article:

Quote
Pentagon officials are concerned that Trump's intervention undermines the perception that the US military prosecute criminal acts to the fullest extent of the law, and that countries abroad where troops are based can have confidence that crimes troops commit there will be punished.

According to the New York Times, both Secretary of Defense Mark Esper and Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy have impressed upon the president the gravity of overriding the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and requested he not interfere in the cases. Esper has publicly said that he believes in the process of the UCMJ. "I do have full confidence in the military justice system," he said.

In other words: Esper and unspecified Pentagon officials worry more about their optics domestically and abroad than about the potential injustice of soldiers who might be serving long prison sentences because the military justice system did them wrong.

The tldr is "let him serve 20 years in prison despite exonerating evidence which the proescutors ignored, all so that we can keep looking good".

Trump is the Commander in Chief of all the military, and outranks all the generals and the Secretary of Defense.
I don't understand your point.

The article claims to want the UCMJ to handle this, and chain of command is one of the premier concerns of the UCMJ. I spent 7 years of my life adhering to the UCMJ, I'm fairly sure I know how it reads.

/e Also, I've noticed a tendency of folks to use the term boomer... like it's a bad thing.

they worry about the president undermining military justice, and don't get me wrong, they already have a terrible record of holding military personnel accountable for the many war crimes they commit abroad - so the few who actually get sentenced must have done something especially egregious that lead to considerable public attention, or were pawns sacrificed to deflect responsibility from leadership.

but hey, who cares, right? everyone who criticises trump's decision must either suffer from severe tds, or simply be a taliban sympathiser, right? must be funny to live in such a simplistic world...
