it was and afterwards the people of south korea took their fate into their own hands

you find an excuse for literally everthing
every country is only as good as its people, its that simple

History isn't an excuse, no matter how inconvienent it is for ideology. There are a ton of factors and rich benefactors are one.

Yeah no they didn't. I was there this summer and there's a whole lot of history there that isn't mentioned much in Western history books. Syngman Rhee died in exile for a reason ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syngman_Rhee ). Rhee's rule was incredibly authoritarian, possibly even more so than Kim Il-Sung. The USA has a lot of South Korean blood on their hands, as do the Russians with North Korean blood. Koreans weren't all that keen on the division, the USSR and USA were. Kim Il-Sung isn't even seen with much disgust in South Korea. The Jeju Uprising and the Mungyeong Massacre are not tiny events in history, even though you might have never heard of them.

So the flood of immigrants into Europe has nothing to do with another US / Russia proxy war in the middle east? Artifical political lines imposes on ancient tribal cultures didn't inherently have a destabilizing effect? Natural leaders removed and replaced with those more compliant to western business interests had no effect? I just don't believe it.

first, you said the stream of illegal immigration is caused by colonialism and capitalism. when i refute your points, you suddenly shift the supposed cause from colonialism and capitalism to recent wars.

Everything he described was the result of colonialism and capitalism.

I'm seriously so sick of hearing about Trump already; he's a fringe candidate who stands no chance at getting the nomination. He's this year's Ron Paul (gets tons of attention on the internet but loses by a landslide).

Me too.

so you say that capitalism is to blame for wars waged during the cold war era, but not communism?! imho both are to blame equally.

also, if colonialism and wars were to blame exclusively for the misery of third world countries, why isnt ethiopia better off? the country only spent a minimal amount of years under foreign rule, there were no foreign wars on its territory, and it was an afterthought for global corporations for the longest time. nonetheless, the economic situation in ethiopia was not and still is not significantly better than in other african countries.

dont get me wrong, I certainly wont deny that wars and social instability are very harmful for economic and social development, and I also certainly wont deny that colonialism and the effects of capitalism sometimes cause these things - but I strongly refute the claim that these things are the sole or even the major factor behind certain countries' lacking development/poverty/misery.

countries like singapore, south korea, taiwan, vietnam or chile prove that countries can recover quite rapidly from the adverse effects of capitalism and "western business interests" - but only if they begin to practice good governance and have manageable demographics!
