There's nothing scandalous about it.

It's quite possible that humanity is just outgunned in this conflict. It's possible that there was nothing that we realistically could have done to prevent the fast spread rate. It's possible that our health care resources were destined to be overrun. In that case, it would have been equally true no matter who has won the 2016 election. And in that case, there is nothing scandalous about it.

and the goal posts keep moving...

we can't say it's bad because we don't know how others would have handled it, and if we can, it's the system's fault, and if it's not, it didn't have an impact on performance, and if it had, we probably couldn't have done anything about it anyway...

but hey, good on you for not spinning this in a partisan way. /s

How is "both sides are just as bad" at all partisan?

They are all products of a system. If the system fails humanity in its conflict vs the corona virus, then that's a criticism of the system.

As far as that conflict is concerned, Republicans and Democrats are on the same side of the conflict.

Anyone who tries to sew dissent between Republican Humans and Democratic Humans is supporting the coronavirus in the conflict.

because it's a blatant false equivalence.

it doesn't favor anyone. it's a different statement than the phrase you quoted.

The reason it isn't false equivalence is because both sides are equivalently guilty of prioritizing their political rivalry over making the right decisions to run the country. That is the essential problem that is hampering humanity's ability to succeed in the conflict vs the coronavirus.

If the US doesn't shutdown things federally then you can expect some states will have a yolo approach

The states are different and it makes sense for the level of shut down to vary between states.

Every state having the same shut down = improper management.

Right now, yeah. Some states have barely any cases atm.

In a week or so pretty much every state will have to be shut down.

last time i checked only one side has the highest office in the country and is responsible for executive decisions... i know that people have gotten used to not holding the president to any kind of accountability or even just basic standards, but that used to be different pre trump. unreflected bothsidesisms can't excuse that. that's just partisan shillery...
