One will have love for their child and a love for a future in which their child is safe, healthy, and has opportunities. Understandably, one will be predisposed towards hatred for anyone who would prevent that future from happening and/or would visit immediate harm and suffering onto your child.

I don't think any other histories of comparison outside of the Israeli and Palestinian conflict need to be invoked, personally. The situation in the Middle East is rather simple, at its core.
