It's good Trump is speaking the truth, the only people upset are the very people icemage wants to leave this important matter to - worthless pundits spewing their 30 second propaganda arguments on MSM networks. It just would have been better if Trump called them out by their names and what they are, antifa and commies. Punching random people, attacking reporters (left and right ones), destroying and burning property, trying to silence people and usher in THEIR OWN VERY UNIQUE BRAND OF NEVER BEFORE TRIED COMMUNISM AS THEY WAVE SOVIET FLAGS constitutes as friendly anti-racist protestors.

There's no we. I'm glad he does this stuff, it just ensures he won't pass tax cuts or a shitty healthcare bill. If I wanted his agenda to get passed, I would want him to be politically savvy and know how to navigate these sort of questions. Trump isn't a media critic, he doesn't have to point out that the media gives antifa a pass.

But hey, if you want a president who gets little done legislatively but calls out the media for doing a shitty job, he's clearly the guy.

Lmao... this guy is hilarious sometimes.

A lot of what he said is true of course. The MSM does ignore the "alt-left", or antifa, and the fact that a woman got killed by a white supremacist doesn't negate the fact that antifa committed violence as well. I'm also sure that there were people there protesting taking down the Robert E Lee statue who weren't white supremacists.

Trump also made a point I've made here before, that taking down statues of honorable men like Robert E Lee doesn't make sense, and if we head down that road it would make just as much sense to take down statues of other powerful men who did horrible things.

That said, Trump is a complete moron to make these points himself. It's not his job to speak honestly about every subject, let pundits in the media make these arguments. He can either have message discipline and accomplish his agenda, or say whatever comes to mind at the time and maintain a 36% approval rating.

The President could use you for advice - he'd just do the opposite of your suggestion and be even more successful

we had an election to elect either a leader who goes directly to the people with his response on issues and doesnt focus group test everything to the 9s, or one who would need nearly institution like the media hollywood superpacs foreign interests and minions to carry the water for all decisions mundane minor and major.

President Trump won that election, any lefty liberal advice on how to lead is null as they rejected the leadership standard of President Obama in any event

If that silly rationalization helps you cope with his failure of a presidency, good for you. Working at Planned Parenthood I have a lot of downtime, and I listen to talk radio and constantly hear Trump supporters(like Laura Ingraham and many others) say that Trump and the administration need message discipline. This is just common sense, he says something dumb and the media runs with it until the next dumb thing. Campaigning is not governing. Apart from executive orders and a SC justice he has accomplished nothing.

So he said virtually all the same things I've been saying, made all the points everyone knows is true and the real issue is that he spoke too honestly and should have been a more scripted candidate playing PC culture's kabuki theatre.
This is what got Donald Trump elected. If he hadn't, it would have been a betrayal. A betrayal perhaps everyone was hoping for, one which everyone would excuse. It would also be a surrender to the most corrupting elements of our culture.

Maybe the pragmatic argument will turn out right. Maybe Donald Trump will find his hill to die on and be a 1 term president by not playing the bullshit game. But good lord, this is precisely what the country needs, and I'm glad to see him wage his one man war. If he loses, its no cost to me, some other B.S. republicans or democrats will return to form and give us a choice between two scripted third way moderate globalists or whatever.

Part of being president is knowing when it is appropriate to say certain truths. Trump isn't an articulate speaker, he can't make these nuanced points effectively.

you've gone from "he will lose in a landslide his campaign is a failure he cant do anything" to "his presidency is a failure and other than a,b,c,d etc. he hasnt done anything" in less than a year. your track record on these matters is as good as peter dinklage's in the high jump
