rando go whooosh. the point is not that those are "republican interests", it's actually the opposite of that: those are popular policies with the people, across party lines, yet republican politicians strictly oppose them, and their voters are too dumb and too brainwashed to make them feel that. please l2r before trying to be part of this conversation...

Those are not the interests of the voters as well. Rude, angry user.

you living under the same rock as ghot? the rock under which you pretend that things that ALREADY HAPPENED IN RED AMERICA would certainly not happen, because they are too extreme? she already couldn't get an abortion in ohio. it's the present. republicans CLEARLY don't give a shit about what the people want (common sense gun control, roe v. wade not overturned, campaign finance reform, affordable healthcare...), and republican voters are too dumb and too brainwashed to make them feel the consequences, they keep voting against their own interests as long as murdoch media and corporate owned politicians can successfully convince them that it's better than "sOciALiSm!!1!"...

We are one week after the supreme court overturned Roe, everything is in flux right now, both legally and in terms of public opinion. Most voters didn't think too much about abortion, one way or another, until now because they didn't have to. As people learn what it truly means to have an abortion ban without exceptions, the issue will gain salience and public opinion will turn against such a hardline stance. It would be a mistake to think that the current state of affairs will become the long-term status quo on abortion. Imho, even among pro-life Republicans, only a radical minority wants a ten-year old rape victim to be forced to carry her rapists baby.

cute. maybe read up on the trigger laws that ALREADY lead to such legislation in multiple states with the fall of roe v wade. again, this is not some conspiracy or slippery slope argument, it's the reality in conservative america right now, you uninformed hack. as to the minor rape victims - i'm sure you'd agree that for conservatives, the likes of icemage, tcock, and santa are probably more on the old-school, pre-trump, not entirely crazy side of things, right? yet they support this shit, let alone all the woman hating incels that trump has mobilised. they might still be a minority amongst all americans, but within conservatives, i wouldn't be so sure, despite the polls showing there was a solid majority against repealing roe v wade...

These trigger laws could be sneaked in because nobody was paying attention due to Roe, but public opinion will quickly turn against these laws now that they are in effect and people start paying attention. My entire point is that these laws will be softened, sooner rather than later, in most states. Definitely in ones like Ohio which aren't dark-red.

I REALLY doubt that any of them supports a blanket abortion ban without exceptions for rape or the life of the mother. What a vile, slanderous accusation by you.

what are you even on about? republicans setting up anti-choice legislation everywhere has been all over the news, some of those trigger laws were only introduced because the original, vile legislation was challenged and struck down thanks to roe v wade. stop acting so obtuse.

regarding those pard conservatives, tcock and santa have literally posted that in this very sub (to be fair, i'm not 100% certain on icemage, but considering how he celebrated the decision, i think that includes minors, rape victims, incest... everything else would be highly disingenuous anyway - either you think "life" is worth protecting at the cost of women's freedom, or not). so maybe look at their actual positions before clutching your precious pearls on their behalf, lol. they don't need a professional victim to protect their feelings, they are big boys...

literally just 2 pages back:

Republicans are in their respective state legislatures. As someone who is pro-life, I urge you to join me it not DENYING these facts but explaining to people why it's in the best interest of all individuals to carry a baby to term no matter the circumstances of conception. Fundamentally, it's not the fault of the fetus that they were conceived.

This. Those laws may have been on the books for years or decades, but they've been held at bay due to Roe, until now.

This challenge was rejected yesterday by the Ohio Supreme Court, which means that the six-week ban went into effect yesterday, not years ago.
