If you lived in the first world and weren't allowed to leave and had to sleep at work I'd say you're entitled to a lot more money.

Navy pay is even less, I assure you.

Why can't they leave? There are thousands of jobs which expose workers to toxic products. A house painter for example is exposed to toxic chemicals then most. No one going on strike about that.
Are they not wearing adequate protection?
Define very bad working conditions.
