The vast majority of conservatives don't want to get rid of those things.

Aside from the farm subsidies, those elected definitely try to eliminate or limit those things.

Reforming those programs to make them sustainable for the future =/= abolishing those programs.

Social security is a ponzi scheme by definition

Land isnt infinite, there is bound to be a point where those who dont work outnumber those that do

Unchecked immigration insures this

You say abolish like its a bad thing.

Abolishing slavery was one of the best things the US did. We should do the same and abolish those social programs.

Meaningful cuts to government programs are always portrayed as "slashing budgets". It's just a bullshit talking point put out there by politicians who are happy to keep kicking the can down the road. There are those in politics who want to abolish all those programs, they are called libertarians, not conservatives(obviously some libertarians don't advocate that).

"Reform" typically is just a weasel word for one of a series of gradual cuts that eventuality eliminate the program.

Lol? That's not even remotely true in American politics.

This is how backwards the discussion has gotten on our fiscal situation... Republicans barely touch these programs and Democrats increase them. Those in Washington who are serious about fiscal responsibility don't have a place.
