You keep dodging my questions....
1) What characteristics make someone American? Don't you agree that the fags in San Francisco have a VERY different culture than the hospitality of the Deep South? What about Texans vs. New Yorkers? The Rust Belt vs. New Orleans? To me, all of them are pretty unique but there are uniting characteristics. What do YOU think those characteristics are?
2) Why do you think England would care about Americans living there? There are hundreds of thousands who live there now and I'm sure hundreds of thousands more who are 2nd or 3rd generation American. Do you think the Japanese care about all the Americans who work there? What about Americans in Israel?

Growing up culture/nationality was never a greater 'team' divider than economic situation ever was. This, however, still misses the root cause. Ideologies. Driving force for human actions. That's what really divides teams. Cultures who's ideology is hard to disassociate from are more prone to this team mentality. Separate them and you'll find common ground. People can be proud of their roots and even cherish them, but if they are unwilling to distance from it they are doomed to fall into this paradigm.

China is not part of Mongolia because the different Chinese cultures banded together against them regardless of any economic situation or Ideologies.

What the Mongolians accomplished is truly extraordinary, and we'll never see the like of it again. But they would never have been able to permanently rule or absorb the vast population centers they captured. Demographics precludes it. They were gradually absorbed into their various conquered states, and in some places just outright overthrown.
