So what now , how do both Republicans and Democrats move forward?
How do they accommodate one another and perhaps work together to get the extreme ends to move out of the way.
they don't. that's the whole point of the theatre. dividing the american people into two opposing camps with bullshit cultural issues concerning race / gender / guns / abortions... is doing exactly what it's supposed to: distract them from how their economic and political elite are exploiting them like none of their peer countries. just look at how shitty and expensive their healthcare is / how long they have to work to afford a living / their abysmal worker protection / no maternal leave / insane education cost... the list is endless. if people are constantly fighting about the small stuff and manipulated to literally despise the "other side", if they can't even imagine a world where they hold their representatives accountable, they won't mind as much about voting against their own interest - as long as it really pisses off the "other side". that's how america transformed into a de facto oligarchy: both parties' establishment is full of corporate owned politicians, and neither party is interested in fundamentally changing the system to make it work for the people rather than the donor class.
the dems might be slightly less vile and cruel on cultural and social issues, but economically they are both playing the same shitty and corrupt game - and that's not going to change unless by some miracle progressives get elected, corporate america's biggest nightmare...
