Their protest is having the desired effect while being entirely lawful and peaceful. The AD HOM attacks on the protestors are comical, especially the ones pushing the violence and fringe minority narratives. Winter season usually breaks the resolve of decentralized protests like this... Occupy Wallstreet being a great example of a movement dying going into Winter months. The freedom trucker convoy protest is the opposite, it will gain momentum coming out of the Winter, especially with Trudeau led Canada fueling their resolve.

What will they do if the government continues its illegal campaign against the protestors? I don't think they will take kindly to long legal proceedings personally, so hoping the Canadian government gets their shit together.

I think the logical outcome is that Justin Trudeau should be arrested for spreading disinformation every time he says “We are not limiting people’s freedom of speech. We are not limiting freedom of peaceful assembly. We are not preventing people from exercising their right to protest legally.”

Well he is right now, because as Louis the XIV: 'he is the state'. This is why being legal is overrated.

Seriously though, Trudeau lost his mind. Doing something like that here would get most Americans to turn on you.

Would they? Would all the liberals, the Biden-voters, the mask-worshippers really take sides with Trump-voting, maga-hat wearing working-class truckers who are constantly smeared and vilified by the mainstream media as reckless, selfish grandma-killers who are too uneducated or ignorant to understand why the covid measures are still needed?

I think the only thing that makes a similar approach impossible to pull off in the U.S. is that conservatives are far stronger - and more libertarian/freedom-focused - in the States than in Canada. 45% conservatives (US) vs 35% (CAN) makes all the difference in terms of the power dynamics in a situation like this one.
