if a huge amount of the population loses faith in the election system, it's not because they are "stupid retards" - It's critically important that every citizen has faith in their election system. Even if I personally think they are retards, just sitting back and calling them that all day will only further erode the democracy.

Anything that makes people suspicious during an election should be carefully looked at, and people should be given reassurances instead of just finger-pointing and laughing. This seems like a pretty basic concept in a healthy democracy.

rip indeed

something certainly needs to be done to improve our elections up here in Canada... I'd say start with education. I've had to explain tax brackets far too many times in the past week... and also had to remind a fair few people that we don't have 4 year terms or term limits

and obviously election reform but never gonna happen

if his power decreases this election he may try to push it through just to dampen the pendulum swing next time he has to campaign

but i doubt it because the liberal party knows FPTP guarantees them power every few elections

Man, just watching the CTV panel and an amazing point was just made by Antonio.

Excellent, excellent point in regards to populism and idealism..

The face mask in USA is a political statement.

The face mask in Canada is a medical statement.

I think that’s spot-fucking-on.

Holy shit, really?

I’m telling you, it’s an education issue more than anything.

i've heard 300 different comics make the same joke by now:

we're the nice apartment above a meth lab
