The issue isn't that the travel expenses are higher or lower. The issue is that he's profiting off of them. He's getting paid to go on vacation basically, and being paid by the government and his campaigns.
That's also not the only way that he's benefited from his position. Foreign nationals have said on record that they feel pressured to stay at his hotels over competitors, and there's evidence he's leveraged deals with the Saudis to get business deals for his businesses and family, and then Trump fired the IG that was looking into the possible corruption.
https://www.defensenews.com/congress/2020/05/18/fired-state-department-ig-probed-trumps-saudi-arms-deals/Trump has been so brazen in his corruption that there's no reason you should be ignorant of it. He's an exceptionally corrupt person, and he does it in plain sight.
That's a highly inconsistent attitude, and even an inconsistent statement. So, were his trips to his so-called "Winter White House" vacations, or was he still conducting the business of state and profiting off guests and SS? Were his trips to hotels and resorts overseas vacations, or was he conducting the business of state and profiting off guests and SS? I mean, the entire attitude here is bizarre. He cost tax payers less, but because he went where he wanted, rather than where Obama wanted, it's bad? I mean, taxpayers paid for a multimillion dollar house in DC for Obama. Nobody's crying over it. I tend to think if Trump's expenses were lower than Obama's year over year, then whatever he was or was not doing saved taxpayers some money, and good on him.
I'm also completely unconcerned over an Obama-appointed State Department IG being fired by Trump. No proof or evidence has been offered that the arms deal had anything to do with profit on Trump's part. Merely part of an ongoing effort to curb Iran's actions.
Like, I'm pretty open minded about things, but when you start throwing around accusations of corruption and mass profiting off the tax payer's dime, some hard data to back it up would be super. The question regarding Trump's hotel and club stays would, to me, always fall on, "If he'd stayed at a place he didn't own, would it have cost less, or more?" My guess is more, but feel free to provide any evidence you have that that is incorrect.
