God damn my YouTube recommendations are nothing but 'FLY LANDS ON PENCE'S HAIR".

I imagine I'll be listening to at least that part of the debate tomorrow as I work since my YouTube scroll will just end up on 50 videos about it.

Frank Luntz has his usual focus group responses to the debate;

Pretty much the brains behind modern republican talking points, buzzwords and messaging.

"The complaint about Kamala Harris was that she was abrasive and condescending," said Luntz, who monitored the reactions of 15 undecided voters from eight battleground states throughout the evening.

"The complaint about Mike Pence was that he was too tired, but [he was] vice presidential, or presidential," added Luntz, who went on to say that "if this is a battle over style and substance -- which is often the case with undecided voters because they simply do not choose on policy, they also choose on persona -- this was Mike Pence’s night."

Luntz clarified that "it’s not that Pence did so well, it’s that they [voters] felt both candidates were not answering the questions as well as they would have liked."

Despite this, voters seemed to appreciate that the two nominees were significantly more cordial to each other than President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden had been in their first presidential debate last week.

"They really did not like the ducking of questions," Luntz explained, "but they were so much happier with this debate than they were the first one. The first one to them was embarrassing. This one, at least, they had the decorum. But the frustration ... was [that] 'They're ducking the question, they are pivoting.'"

Luntz said that while voters were frustrated with the vice president for repeatedly running over his allotted time, "Harris’ reactions to Pence -- the smiling, the smirking, the scowling" left them far "angrier" with her performance.

"Voters do not like it when candidates run long, and when they run long every time, they think that’s an example of being undisciplined and unfocused," he argued. "However, they were more agitated with Kamala's presentation than they were with Mike Pence."

"It was clear," he concluded, "that Mike Pence was the winner of tonight’s confrontation."

seems like what I'd expect after watching that
Felt like Kamala thought she was still on a primary debate stage trying to win the democratic vote against other liberals, and that being shrill and moralizing was a winning plan. Its not.

What are your expectations for polls? (I didn't watch it)

Based on what people are saying I'd expect this to at least stop the bleeding, but probably too little too late since Biden is already up everywhere.

Was it such a blowout that it's going to convince anybody that Trump is worth electing just for Pence being the VP?

I expect the noncredible polls will claim whichever side aligns with them won, and the credible polls will put a net increase on pence / decrease on kamala ratings after this, but not to the degree of a blowout like kaine had.
I think more the issue is that Kamala is making herself a liability and a point of attack for Trump against Biden. His campaign is putting its messaging on tying Biden to liberal radicals, and if Kamala can't distance herself from her own radical policies in her only moments in the spotlight, its going to feed the president's narrative. Especially if this winds up not being Kamala's only spotlight, say if Biden contracts Covid-19 then even if he recovers swiftly it will renew emphasis on Kamala. I think there's a lot of Americans who think Biden wouldn't be that bad but just watched Kamala and loathed her, and I'm one of those people. I mean I supported Biden in the 2008 primaries, but I wouldn't go near Harris with a 10 ft pole. Of course, that's also pretty much true of Trump and Pence for me :bouncy:

Based on what I'm seeing, clear winner of the debate was The Fly. All polls reflect this.

For serious polling, seems neck in neck, which indicates to me, there's going to be no impact on overall election polling, going back to my original prediction.

My YouTube feed agrees with the conclusion that the fly is the real winner.

Somebody get that guy a job as the next moderator.

What's funny is that Kamala REALLY toned it down compared to the primaries and her Senate work. She tried so hard to be likeable but no one is going to like a negro haji bitch. It is what it is.

There's so much shit stuck to Biden they've resorted to injecting it into his forehead to make him more expressive. The guy's spent 47 years in politics. We know his record, just as we know Trump's record.

And I love the claims that Trump "literally does that" without any proof of a damn thing. You're so low effort, the average 5 year old, knowing nothing about politics at all, could just look at your "argument" and say, "If this is the average Biden voter, I think I'll go for the other guy."

TLDR:

That's right. 47 years in politics and the GOP is still trying to figure out how to attack him. Socialist? Racist? Sleepy? Pedophile? Rapist? Communist? They just can't figure it out.

Off the top of my head, Trump said he supports Japan and South Korea getting nuclear weapons so they can defend themselves from Kim Jong Un. Then he says that he's against nuclear proliferation and that it's dangerous. I'll give you this though. It's probably not a legitimate change in position in order to court votes like you're talking about. He's just a brain dead fucking moron.
