sanders lost because it is rigged
she is beating trump because trump is some sort of plant
maybe more people support/like her than people giver her credit for
maybe she is a better candidate than people give her credit for and she is just winning

That doesn't fit with what I want to believe, sorry bud. :(
Hillary Clinton probably still would have won the nomination if the DNC didn't rig it in her favor. Conversely, Bernie Sanders probably still would have lost the nomination if the DNC didn't rig it against him.
Bernie Sanders losing and the DNC rigging the nomination process in Hillary's favor are not mutually exclusive events. Hillary Clinton winning and the DNC rigging the nomination process against Bernie's favor are not mutually exclusive events. There were many other factors at play outside of the DNC's influence that decided the end result of the nomination process, including Hillary's superior favorability/electability with most Democratic primary voters.
Put simply, just because the rigging of the DNC didn't necessarily change the final outcome of the nomination doesn't mean there isn't anything wrong with what happened.
You two must be openly cognizant of that concept before much of any productive conversation can be had on this topic. It's not our problem if you refuse or fail to recognize that nuance.
Sarcastically saying that Bernie Sanders lost only because the system is rigged is a misrepresentation of what actually happened in an attempt to try and downplay the wrongdoings and corruption of the DNC.
If you fail to see any wrongdoing of the DNC during the DNC nomination process in the face of the facts, then I don't know what to say to you. You two have been saying/implying for months now that the DNC hasn't been unfair against Bernie, and at some point you realize that your own biases are getting in the way of your perception of reality.
Tl;dr: Eat a little bit of crow and take the loss on this one. Just admit that the DNC fucked up and that they shouldn't have propped up Hillary and undermined Bernie. And yes, Hillary Clinton still would have been the DNC nominee regardless of whether the DNC rigged the nomination process against Bernie or not. The end result of the DNC nomination process didn't have to change for something to be wrong with it.
