There are healthy and unhealthy lifestyles. We understandably criticize smoking, we should understandably criticize overeating. I'm not sure overt shaming helps, but we clearly need to discourage behavior that significantly increases mortality. Acting like everything is ok is not the solution.
I completely agree with this, there is a balance that needs to be held between helpful criticism & discouragement but also understanding and respecting people who aren't necessarily at the dangerous end of obesity and are happy with holding an extra <50 lbs.

...not only did you totally miss the sarcasm but you went on to blame misinformation for what is clearly an emotional disorder .
Actually there's a lot of evidence linking obesity to sugar intake, meaning the intake of refined sugars are the primary and main cause of obesity. There is also plenty of evidence that shows sugar forms physical addictions that can be measured by biologists & physiologists.

...we don't shame cancer patients into chemotherapy .
Wrong again. Some people actually do; if you look at the growing number of individuals who self medicate for cancer by using cannabis oils and so on, usually via the use of it on children, you can easily find the ignorant bigots who are practically attempting to shame them into using the 'conventional' methods of treatments (chemotherapy & radiation).
