Aside from the fact that NAACP v Alabama is what I was consider a misinterpretation of the 1st amendment, in what way does limiting the areas where smoking is is permitted a violation of the "right to freely associate?"

Because home owners may choose to allow certain people (smokers) to do so (associate) whilst bar owners on their own property may not. It is a combination of 1st and 14th, not just one or the other.

Yeah, I've been the one making "points" about people who drive versus people who smoke these entire last couple threads

Here's some gems I found.

I totally responded to one of your gems, bro.

ive recently quit smoking weed and cigarettes, for about 2 years i was smoking about a pack a day and never a day off, and weed i was smoking around 6-10 grams depending on my work schedule, and recently had a visit to the hospital because i had an asthma attack and im only 19, i thought i had heart cancer, but i also have symptons of very sharp/pinching heart pain and im also thinking its because of smoking. I cannot say further what I have because I need to run more tests at the hospital tomorrow. but i hope i changed ur mind in the slightest. and yeah i never had asthma before i used to compete in high school sports and went to state for football and track. i think my life has changed fully because of this

That sucks, man, but as long as it's just asthma and not something worse, the good news is there are immediate positive health effects from quitting smoking. This seems like a resource that might help:

Best of luck to you.

I realize that driving is necessary to sustain the economy. My post wasn't particularly serious, it's just to point out hypocrisy in people who complain about the air that they breathe. Everyone contributes to the general shittiness of the atmosphere.

Sure, but at least there's a purpose for automobiles that go towards the betterment of society.

The same cannot be said about cigarettes as they just plain suck and that's why I don't feel it's all that hypocritical.

Both are bad for the air. Your point of view is hypocritical at the very least.

because everyone is hopelessly and completely brainwashed. at least nearly everyone i've ever met in my life is, since i can only claim this from experience.

the reason's because of two factors, the media makes out smoking to be worse than it actually is, and the media heavily advocates acting melodramatic.

what you get is non-smokers going apeshit for someone smoking a cigarette outdoors 4 feet away from them, because their shallow, weak mind truly believes they'll get cancer.

YEA MAN ITS TOTALLY FINE

there's a billion and one phony amateur studies done on it, all with different results. do some research, and you tell me.

either way, second hand smoke means actually inhaling smoke from others, not being within a 10-foot radius of someone smoking a cigarette. i feel obligated to tell you because nobody seems to understand that.

lulz second hand smoke is also the smoke coming off the end of your cig. un filtered. its extremely bad for you. you might come back with the argument that people take the filters off their cigarettes all the time and do fine but the smoke is still filtered through the tobacco in the cigarette. coming from a long line of chain smokers ive heard both sides of the argument for years. im neither for nor against laws stopping people from smoking outside. for those who are for well, the product of my vice (alcohol) is vomit so i guess if i can just vomit all over you when im having a good time then we're even. and for those of you who are against it well, move the fuck down the sidewalk theres plenty of oxygen down there.
