Your source only mentions the share of Canada among US oil
imports - but far from all of the oil in the US is imported. In fact, the US are themselves a major producer of oil and were a net exporter in 2023:
https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=727&t=6So yes, US oil imports would plummet in an all-out trade war with Canada - but they don't really depend on them; they could just reduce their exports to the rest of the world, make up the full shortfall created by the loss of Canadian oil and still have plenty of wiggle room left.
Specifically, your own source states that
Quote
Canada’s crude oil exports to the United States amounted to 24% of U.S. refinery throughput in 2023
According to my source, US crude oil imports were about 6.48 million b/d in 2023. Losing one quarter of it would be a shortfall of 1.62 million b/d. Now, my source also states that the US had crude oil exports of about 4.06 million b/d in 2023. Hence, even without Canadian oil, they would still easily cover their own consumption and still have about 2.4 million b/d of crude oil exports left for the rest of the world.
