You also conveniently ignore that americans overpay by a lot to their own detriment for that system. You can spend money for medical R&D without skrewing your population
I didn’t ignore that. I mentioned specifically that it’s a sacrifice America makes for the good of all mankind.
You can spend as much as America does, proportionally, on medical research and still have socialized healthcare, hypothetically. It’s hypothetical because your country doesn’t come close and neither does any other country now or at any point in history.
The reason your country doesn’t spend significantly on medical research is because there’s nothing in it for them specifically. The reason America spends so much on medical research is because it directly affects profitability. Again, this is one way in which capitalism harnesses greed for the betterment of the entire human race.
If you want your country to start spending much much more money on research to be comparable to America I’m all for it, start writing to your leaders. I’d love to be proven wrong. I like socialized healthcare, I’m not against it or anything. It’s just a fact that if America switched over it would be bad for humanity.
