If you saw it then it wouldn't be faith now would it? If you saw it then there would be no hope then right? Who hopes for what he sees?

There are many stories in the Bible where people put their trust in God in times of persecution. A perfect example of this is Daniel 3. You should read that and see how God delivers.

What I find sad is how if you live only for this life then you are born at the worst possible time. Who knows how far technology will advance 50 years from now? You will never have the latest toys and war is still prevalent in this world.

Would you dare go to Ukraine and spend the remainder of your life there? Would you then tell me that you are completely satisfied with your life?

Faith is what we call it when we believe things without logic, evidence, or reason.

Let's see what the Bible says about faith. As you can see, faith is very much alive and active. Our faith should drive us into action and good deeds. You think faith is idle? You could be farther from the truth.

Hebrews 11:1:40

Faith in Action

11 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for.

3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

4 By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.

5 By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.” For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.

8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. 9 By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. 10 For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. 11 And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. 12 And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.

13 All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. 14 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. 15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

17 By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, 18 even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” 19 Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.

20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau in regard to their future.

21 By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.

22 By faith Joseph, when his end was near, spoke about the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and gave instructions concerning the burial of his bones.

23 By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.

24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. 25 He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. 27 By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible. 28 By faith he kept the Passover and the application of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.

29 By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned.

30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the army had marched around them for seven days.

31 By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient.

32 And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, 33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies. 35 Women received back their dead, raised to life again. There were others who were tortured, refusing to be released so that they might gain an even better resurrection. 36 Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. 37 They were put to death by stoning;[e] they were sawed in two; they were killed by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated— 38 the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the ground.

39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, 40 since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.

Faith, by its nature, requires a suspension of critical thinking and a willingness to accept claims without evidence, which runs counter to the principles of logic and reason.

I'm not swayed by small quotes you pulled out of a story book.

Faith is and always has been THE ONLY MEANS OF SALVATION.

Ephesians 2:8-9

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

Faith does not put trust in bank account balances, headline news, or the doctor’s report. When the world seems to be falling apart, our faith stands secure on the rock-solid, trustworthy promises of God and His Word.

2 Corinthians 4:17-18

17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

2 Corinthians 5:7

7 For we live by faith, not by sight.

Faith is and always has been the only means of salvation. In the Old Testament, the covenantal bond was the believer’s expression of faith. God initiated the covenant, and believers responded in faith, actively obeying His Word and trusting in the Lord to fulfill His promises.

In the New Testament, it is by faith that people receive God’s grace in Jesus Christ and, through Him, the gift of salvation (Ephesians 2:8–9). Paul emphasized the centrality of faith in the believer’s life: “For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, ‘It is through faith that a righteous person has life’”

Romans 1:16-17

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

Jesus is the one and only way to salvation. One way, Jesus.

Lyrics

I lay my life down at Your feet
'Cause You're the only one I need
I turn to You and You are always there

In troubled times, it's You I seek
I put You first, that's all I need
I humble all I am all to You

One way, Jesus, You're the only one that I could live for
One way, Jesus, You're the only one that I could live for

You are always, always there
Everyhow and everywhere
Your grace abounds so deeply within me

You will never, ever change
Yesterday, today the same
Forever 'til forever meets no end

One way, Jesus, You're the only one that I could live for
One way, Jesus, You're the only one that I could live for
One way, Jesus, You're the only one that I could live for
One way, Jesus, You're the only one that I could live for

You are the way, the truth and the life
I live by faith and not by sight for You
We're livin' all for You
You are the way, the truth and the life
I live by faith and not by sight for You
We're livin' all for You
You are the way, the truth and the life
We live by faith and not by sight for You
We're livin' all for You
You are the way, the truth and the life
We live by faith and not by sight for You
We're livin' all for You

One way, Jesus, You're the only one that I could live for
One way, Jesus, You're the only one that I should live for
One way, Jesus, You're the only one that I could live for
One way, Jesus, You're the only one that I could live for

Oh please, you're just saying it's meaningless nonsense because you cannot come up with a rebuttal for everything that was just posted.

Why do you think that only typing one single sentence with no backup to your claims have any sway whatsoever? What is meaningless is what you just typed.

Now I don't need to think through this logically or be given evidence or reason but I have faith and you do not know how to argue or to debate. You haven't been in any type of debate class have you?

This isn't a debate. You said nothing that I find valuable, that's my response.

I'm not interested in your scripture or your song lyrics.

Nothing you said is an argument, which is why I didn't come up with a rebuttal. No rebuttal is needed for song lyrics or scripture.

I'm not interested in biblical hermeneutics.I'm interested in what is true and what is valuable. If you want to make the argument that god is real or the belief in god is valuable or meaningful in someway, I would engage in that conversation, but I'm not going to type out my opinions and thoughts about the world in response to your copying and pasting song lyrics and scripture.

My Scripture of Song Lyrics? Then why did you click this thread? You are obviously very invested into this conversation. I simply gave you examples of Scripture that show that Faith is not idle but instead drives action. I was simply showing your misguided judgement the truth and what is valuable.

You say you're not interested in Biblical hermeneutics but the fact that you are here and have responded says otherwise. You made a claim about Faith and so that is what the conversation is about. Yet you are not arguing against me, per say. You are attempting to argue against Scripture, the same Scripture that I quote. None of what I bring to you is my personal opinion. It's all based on Scripture.

You want to get into an argument about whether God is real or not? Before you do I'd suggest you drop my name to this person and see what he says: https://forums.d2jsp.org/user.php?i=1166779

Oh and be sure to ask him about the Napkin Religion. I'm sure he'll gladly tell you all about it.

Then you decide for yourself whether you want to go down this path or not. He came out at the end of it with 30% warn.

Possibly if you had done it in your own words without copying and pasting scripture we could have had an interesting conversation.

What do you mean? The whole base of the argument is based on what Scripture says. That's why you're here right? To argue Scripture? The last person who tried to say to not quote Scripture didn't get very far at all.

Tell you what, I'll give you one opportunity to disprove all of Christianity. All you need to do is disprove the resurrection of Jesus ever happened. That is the underlying cornerstone of the Christian Faith since everything we believe is 100% reliant on that one event.

Can you disprove the resurrection of Jesus? I'm all ears.
