Because young women are going to get college degrees at increased rates and men at decreased rates.

This might even eventually flip the gap.

I don't know you people are so obsessed with comments sections and use that as a data source though.

Agreed, but affirmative action for gender is absurd in STEM nowadays.

The per capita productivity has also dropped by about half since women joined the workforce.

No affirmative action in stem fields. They're just actually hiring women.

It is true that if you're a talented woman engineer you're going to do ok.....but that is more because the talented engineer part.

I'd like to have more affirmative action for men in social work, especially for veterans because they have so many weird hangups about appearing strong and non vulnerable to women.

To be clear I don't think there should be any collective action on the state's behalf to remedy any of this. Things will go where they go.

They use diversity quotas at many companies, especially the state and federal government. If they have any "diversity" candidates, majority ones usually dont make it past the first stage.

Which is a shame because one of the best project engineers I knew was a women. Her productivity was diluted by the other idiots.

At least we can agree on that.

not sure if serious

i work in this field and we regularly lower the bar to hire at least one woman into a team and it's still a troublesome mess given how few female applicants we get

chemistry might be different tho...

chemistry and biology actually have their fair share of females. maths isnt bad either. but in physics and egnineering, you got maybe one female applicant per 10 males.
