which is a very significant portion of the population

happy bases are fine and dandy but unless the dems run someone super duper unlikeable again he's gonna need a LOT more people for round 2

Republicans are in no position to ignore so may people imo. 4 years of control is great but 8 is better and getting destroyed in 2-4-+ years for going ham for 20% of the country isn't a great long term approach

Thats fair. Hopefully he does his promises and then moves more towards the center. Hes never going to please militant leftists, but he can definitely please the common man, with minimal effort. One of these being his restructuring of the way h1b visas work so that companies stop hiring people from other countries for pennies on the dollar, and instead keep tech jobs here.

Comparison is slightly different. Trump is doing EXACTLY what he said he would, that people who voted for him, want him to do. Which is kind of the opposite of not listening. Hes just not stopping and listening to people who violently opposite him.

that's weird. kind of sounds like Obama to me. Does what he said he would, pulls out of Iraq, pushes through Obamacare, picks up drone program to cut down on deaths, etc. Then 4 years go by and people start to realize you can't vote for intent you have to vote for results and process and some of the good aims result in bad outcomes.

its been 10 days, i think i'll wait until we actually see who's paying for the wall, what it does to the economy, whether obamacare gets repealed and replaced, whether the lobbying and bullshit in Washington actually gets cleaned up, whether less abortions happen, etc. before i say Trump's doing what he promised.

but you've also oversimplified or misunderstood what i meant. listening to the opposition, especially those who have issues with the specifics of a piece of legislation not the end goal of it, is what needs to be done to stop the cyclical change. but they wont do it, they'll keep playing on their side of the aisle.

Yes I too would like to maybe wait til like 3-6 months (barring some kind of crazy bullshit we all need to put a stop to happening) then make an assessment of the man as president.

And yes I misunderstood what you meant. He needs to be able to meet in the middle on things he wants to push through instead of just putting through EO after EO to get his way.

yes. indeed. the issue is that so much of the narrative on both sides is "but obama did it like this" , "no obama did it different and here's why" , "lol obama lol".

Obama is now some gold standard and anyone who doesn't like what's going on clearly forgot to realize that Obama and HRC did similar things. Ignoring both that Obama was the bronze standard at best and that this candidate got in as the change candidate who was billed as the anti-Obama. seeing certain things get gutted "cuz obama did it and thats bad" then other things justified because "obama did it so it cant be bad" is enough to give anyone whiplash.

my advice to the trump camp, leave the words "obama" "HRC" and "democrat" out of your answers. truly push forward and you might gain some traction. otherwise its the same partisan hackery in a more divided landscape and nothing will get done, we all lose.

It would help a lot if Obama would go away, and I don't mean be entirely irrelevant, but I'm pretty sure hes the only Ex-president that has ever stayed in DC afterwards. Atleast in recent decades
