Do people even stop to think about these bumper sticker lines? This person isn't poor because of the ultra-rich, they are poor because they haven't acquired the education, skills, or experience to be valuable in the job market.

It's fine and dandy to advocate policies which make it easier for the poor to acquire education/training, and I'm sympathetic to the idea of the ultra-rich paying more in taxes to accomplish that, but I think that quote is a good example of how the Democratic party's economic talking points don't make sense to a lot of people.

i expect more from political candidates than i do from citizens

The ultra-rich have been actively moving policy in a direction away from the general public acquiring these things.

It's actually simple capitalism, the gap between the rich and the poor will only grow larger without some socialism to counter it.

The UK is not the best example for a small gap between the rich and the poor. ^^

People becoming richer doesn't somehow prevent the poor from acquiring things. Under capitalism people become rich providing goods and services to other people.

That's what I mean. Them failing in getting it done doesn't mean it can't be done. Look a bit further to the east ;)

You are missing the point.

'Inequality' or people becoming rich is not the problem. Do you think its better for the poor to be poorer as long as the rich are less rich?

Sure ppl becoming rich is fine, but a structure that will make the rich richer and the poor poorer needs to be compensated to not create and entire low income working class for the 1%
