I don't think it matters which party the commander in chief belongs to. What matters is the circumstances of the conflict we are in. A president either hamstrings the military or gets out of the way, but some conflicts just can't be finished decisively, unless we're willing to murder a shit ton of civilians.

I mean, you really think FDR and Truman had some magical qualities as Democrats which enabled them to win the war? As if a Republican in office would've lost to Hitler?

The civil war you are talking about would pretty much be mostly uneducated rural and suburban whites vs everyone else. Are they going to organize and invade urban centers? Lol. Is the Right trying to incite Helter Skelter now?

A Republican in office wouldn't have faced Hitler likely. He wouldn't have gotten involved without congressional approval to help the Brits when they faced the Blitz. Democracy might have died in Europe during that time and the American Right wasn't for intervening. Japan has to attack us and Hitler had to declare war for them to support their commander in chief in his goals of defending freedom in the world.

There wont be American civil war. We aren't french...the government doesn't fear us and we don't take to the streets, even when the rich are stealing people's healthcare and money. It's pure fantasy. Things are too good for anyone to get too uncomfortable here. Americans don't want to sleep in the ground outside lol. Most people don't have what it takes to even participate in war. They would run and flee and do reasonable things.
