Remember how just one page ago, fender was questioning my claim that a Biden presidency would clear the way a lot of the far left's agenda?

Just today, politico released an article titled "Biden signals openness to eliminating Senate filibuster":

Who could have seen this coming?

So the Biden and Sanders campaigns worked together to come up with a "unified platform." It seems like they got quite a bit of input from both progressives and conservative Democrats. I'm not going to summarize but I'll reference the various sections. I'll create a separate post on education because that's the one that I'm most interested in.

I guess Biden has seen my posts reminding the Democrats that their ‘conscience of the senate’, Senator Robert Byrd (D) was in the kkk and filibustered what would become the Civil Rights Act of 1964

so for Biden (D), the answer is not to behave fairly and with equality when it comes to matters of race (hence his “you aint black” tirade”). it is to ban the filibuster completely!!!

This gives me a lot of confidence in Biden as both a leader and a campaigner. Clinton specifically rejected polling data and aid from the Sanders campaign after she got the nomination. This is a great move from Joe.

I think one thing that gives me hope about Biden is that he'll give zero fucks once he's elected. I doubt that he'll run in 2024 so hopefully he does the right thing when it comes to fixing the country. Personally, I think it'd be great if Presidents stuck with single terms and just went balls to the wall with their agenda.

Is this his official platform, or will this list still get watered down? Is this just lip service Biden is paying to the Sanders agenda so that he can tap into the energy and fundraising of the Sanders people, or is this a genuine effort at uniting the party?

Hillary in 2016 had her own agenda she wanted to pursue. Biden in 2020 doesnt seem to have lots of a platform or key policies. Perhaps borrowing from Bernie was easier than coming up with this stuff himself. (Or perhaps I'm just a caustic partisan...)

I think this is the official "unifying" platform. Biden undoubtedly tacked left. Obviously this doesn't mean to much b/c a President rarely accomplishes their agenda, but there are some powerful people in Congress who support this. I imagine some of it will be done.

I really want to know how Biden will handle China, Russia, and the EU. The US and the EU really need to band together to curb China's influence.

He's just going along to get along. Biden's entire life was lived in autopilot.

At least Bernie was a civil rights activist back in the 60's.
