Can you give me an issue Trump is actually leading the world on?
not necessary since neither he himself nor anyone else claims that he is "the leader of the free world".

those are all liberal rage article written in response to the shock of trumps victory.
fact is: germany has a pathetic military and wouldnt stand a chance against, for example, a russian invasion without american backup. a country which is that weak on the military side of things cant be the leader of a power bloc.
fact is: the neighboring european countries dont follow merkel in the refugee crisis and the eurozone crisis, i.e. the two most pressing and serious crises that europe and germany are faced with at the moment. how can she be the leader of the free world if she doesnt even have the backup of those who should be her closest allies on the most important issues her own country is facing at the moment?
fact is: the largest chunk of merkel's influence and leverage on european politics is due to german taxpayers money. she actually has very little authority based on her personality or clever alliances. as soon as she is no longer the one paying for everything on a certain issue, the others dont really care about her opinion anymore.
fact also is: she has little to no influence on north american or east asian politics. does anyone in washington give any fuck about what merkel thinks? do americans or canadians or japanese talk and care about merkel's opinion and actions as much as they talk and care about trump's? of course not.
there is simply no leader of the free world at the moment since trump deliberately refuses to play this role. and like it or not, but if we were forced to name one person who is the leader of the countries that comprise the "free world", it would still be the american president, even if the president is donald trump.
