I talked to my friend about PTSD and he said it correlates mostly with amygdala activity, and since we're both about as low amygdala as you can get he should be fine.

However, seeing your friend blown to bits in front of you is probably not something that it matters how emotional you are.

I would describe my friend as non-emotional as they come going into the service. It certainly is not a safeguard against PTSD.

He was actually a biomedical science major before doing a chemistry masters, so he tends to overstate the significance of that kind of research.

Either way I don't think his parents would let him, since they're pretty well off and going into the armed service when you can do other things is dumb.
