Ive got a sneaking suspicion that israels gonna "control" a whole lota land in syria in order to protect the druze/kurds from being to close to the rebels that Israel funded. Truly a masterclass in warfare

Israel has a significant Druze population, many of whom serve in the IDF and contribute to Israeli society. During the Syrian Civil War, the Israeli government warned Assad not to harm the Druze community. That commitment remains in place, and if the rebels target the Druze, they will face the full force of the IDF.

I’ve just read a report that the IDF is now in control of Syrian installation on Mt. Hermon which is the highest peak in the region with significant strategic implications.
I must admit that it seems that you are not wrong in your assessment. I don’t like to be wrong as I thought that Israel won’t grab any Syrian land.
Even though that it’s also possible that Israel is now “taking” parts just to give them back as some sort of geopolitic game.
Time will tell.

Aside from the peak of Mount Hermon, I don’t believe anything is truly permanent. That doesn’t mean Mount Hermon is permanent—it simply means that if I were in control, I would have claimed it permanently.

Not what the news is saying and Israel is right now bombing Damascus as well. I guess if people are told to stay in the houses they are easier to evict when you want to take their land.

Preventing the rebels from achieving strategic weapons.

The news reported that we advanced up to the 1974 ceasefire line. Israel is targeting chemical weapons facilities and other sites with weapons and equipment that we do not want falling into the hands of the rebels.

Makes sense. Like hitting a toddler in the face to remove his teeth before he might bite you. Israel is not preventing anything but taking an opportunity to grab more land.
