Not really. Poor people can work any two part time chicken jobs to make a living wage and buy an ID.

What creates no vested interest in the system is welfare.

At a baser problem, we should have government agencies to directly train and employ people like in Germany.

Yes, and also the government policy that regulates that market. If you don't create any of the capital, you shouldn't decide how other people have to use theirs, its a conflict of interest.

this line of thinking basically boils down to those who make the most should run everything

...someone with $30,000 income has the same voting power as someone with $1,000,000 income....

They absolutely should.

The big plus though is it prevents voting demographics from forming that have no stake in the system and no vested interest in its continual.

What the hell? Everybody who is affected by the law/government has a vested interest in it.

The government does more than regulate the market.

And besides, poorer people are absolutely affected by the market.

Capitalists don't create capital too, lol. They take it from the workers. The workers / labor itself creates the capital.

LMAO

This is literally the opposite of what you should have said. The real conflict of interest is that people who own all the capital have such a big influence in the government.

The capital wasn't there to begin with to take. It was created through the transaction. Hence the whole "You didn't build that" fiasco. Obama never worked a 9-5 job and was never an entrepreneur, so he's clueless as to how much work and persistence through failure it entails when you're actually on the producing end.

The minority of property rights abuses in capitalism pales in comparison to everything it gave us ie: our current standard of living.

And if you pay no taxes while still voting, you have no vested interest in the state. You contribute nothing while trying to govern everyone else's share.

this way of thinking is a popular republican talking point but it undermines the future of the state

Powerful corporate interests voting themselves rent is political corruption. Unions voting themselves economic rent is political corruption.

Right, but like, old people still exist.

And the whole, "Everyone needs to have a job all the time no matter what," idea is pretty new. And it doesn't exist in places like the south/southwest/northwest like it does in the midwest/northeast/mid atlantic.

You telling me old people are claiming their social security benefits without ID? Or that getting an ID is really hard? What about when the states are giving IDs out for free?

Wat?

I think you're way oversimplifying things if you think the only reason people disapprove of voter id is that they think it's racist.

I think Democrats disapprove of voter ID because they benefit from the illegal enfranchisement of non-citizens.
