I don't think you really understand this stuff.

Its pretty fucking simple majorblood. One person says "if you harm this person they will do better" and then say "if you treat this person well they will do better". They contradict themselves by implication as they're talking.

Is it not possible that both carrot and stick can be motivators? Stick may even be a greater motivator when you take certain processes of mind into account. For example - loss aversion - People tend to fear losing what they have more than they enjoy gaining new things.

That concrete operational, eh?

do you think i'm asking for the specifics because I don't understand the concept?

why do you think I am asking for the specifics of government intervention on business?

The bureau of labor statistics is better than d2jsp for that.

Bls.gov

You can find detailed information about economic cycles etc there. It's a bit much to spell out here and his point isn't contingent on the details and his premises were good.

The plebs need keeping in line not raising up. You don't give a suit to a pig. He will only muddy it. Trump is a great example of what happens when you give a pleb a position.

well, that makes it pretty obvious WHY you insisted on specifics: because you couldn't refute the double standard of treating poor as opposed to rich people, and your best shot of "winning" this argument was hoping he could not provide the exact specifics - so you could dismiss it as an unsubstantiated claim rather than address the point...

Absolutely. Positive and negative rewards and positive and negative punishments etc. It gets pretty complicated.

Some people only respond to the stick, i.e.: people who are chronically incarcerated.

But people tend to respond more to aspiration than desperation.

Incarcerated people only respond to punishment? Ouch. That's a nice easy way to deal with prisoner abuse.
