What's the benefit of reducing "gun violence" rather than violence? Do you think gangbangers will stop killing eachother if they dont have guns? Once all the guns are gun will you preach the banning of knives and dump trucks? Why should individuals outside of inner cities where "gun violence" is practically statistically non-existant not be allowed to have guns?

Didn't know running somebody over with a dump truck was common in the violent crime statistics.

How about we talk about real issues? Like the fact that by going out of your way to reduce gun violence you will reap a much higher reward than just curbing overall violence.

Thing is, we treat cancer more vigorously than the common cold, and so we should with violence that is far more likely to kill and is far more common than one-off murders with dump trucks.

This is absolute garbage. If you want to reduce "gun violence" then create better economic opportunities for the disadvantaged and better police enforcement against organized crime. If your analogy made more logical sense it would say something along the lines of... well breast cancer is common so lets cut off everyone's breasts then we'll prevent breast cancer. It is an absolute matter of fact that guns are not the common denominator in violence in the United States and that things like poverty, gang membership and drugs are.
