Im out of the loop, what has been Putin's response to the strikes in Russia's interior. I know there was the famous drones in shipping containers strikes, and the strikes on planes, etc. But did Putin ever shell Kiev or other targets with missiles after those?
Yeah they have but it's the usual back and fourth. I think this feels different because its so visible to the Russian middle-upper class many of which are concentrated in Moscow. Your capital is burning, there's acid rain. Ukrainians and other pro-western accounts are celebrating today (see link) but undoubtedly they will respond which will be met with cries, and the circle repeats.
I do think this is different because these type of images can easily get the masses even more behind the war. Again, don't think we see a general mobilization but what if Putin decides to expand the war and open a Belarus front? Nuke? probably not. There's a lot of other what if's that can be thought of here.
