train the faculty to use guns.

They got careers, so they got plenty to lose if they shoot up a school.
The school shooters are losers with no life. They got nothing to lose.

New law/rule:

For employment in public schools and private, it is required that employees are trained, legally able to use firearms, and posses their own legal firearm.

Teachers and principals gotta step their game up.

my wife, a teacher, is in a facebook group for teachers that has thousands of members.

last night an undergrad posted "graduating this year in spring, will be teaching elementary, wondering what i need to buy so i can start as a teacher".

it had hundreds of replies, none of them with supplies she'd need. all: "run sister", "i'm leaving teaching", "find a new major before its too late" etc.

states across the nation are hiring people with no teaching degrees due to shortages.

make them buy their own guns and carry them and we'll have so many shortages schools will have to close.

this is a profoundly bad idea, award winningly bad in fact.

it isn’t a short term solution. It is impractical to get people to buy into this strategy right now. Even worse if it is mandated by law. For this to work, it would take time. You don’t just fire your workers when you need them.
They did that with pandemic, but school safety is not the pandemic.

how is creating a nationwide teacher shortage (new problem) to combat school shootings (let's face it, a small number per year compared to tens of thousands not having staff) with questionable effectiveness a solution? its a bigger problem, not a solution.

So leave US schools with a trend of active shooters unguarded because that's what EU does? Got it, that will surely help while we await total gun confiscation. Guards impact that trend by 0 pcnt apparently by lib logic. Even if you did pass gun ban laws, reality is guns are everywhere here as other have pointed out..

While I wouldn't be opposed and actually would very much be in favor of allowing armed school staff that volunteer to be armed and attend training ultimately it isn't needed. We could secure all schools in the US within a month if we really wanted to, it would just cost money and it wouldn't score political points for either party. All we would really have to do is retrofit all existing buildings with bullet proof windows that lock and cannot be opened on the ground level, put a functional mechanical or RFID lock on every exterior door and keep them locked so people from the outside can't gain access, set up building access points with an intercom where people can state their business from outside and have to be buzzed in, have a monitored network of security camera's, and lock every classroom door. But even if we did all that people on site are going to have to start taking security seriously and follow proper security protocols.

Yeah, let's put more walls and why not a permanent bullet-proof cage around every student lmao
You know you won't ever fix this issue if you try to fix it yourself.
Yeah let's not try to improve education so such things disappear by themselves because as someone said it earlier :

At a certain point it is too late to fix anything anymore cause everything went fundamentally wrong.

So an 8% increase in murders with guns in *checks notes* 26 years.
What's america's number look like?
Also keep in mind almost 100% of the gun murders here are organised crime members eliminating competition, not kids going to school with a backpack full of semi automatics.
