No? The only people who got rich in d2 were bot farmers and hackers. How many high runes did you actually FIND? SOJs? 40/15s?

RoS implemented pity trackers and you could choose to do GRifts, Rifts, etc. I agree that D3's economy is complete shit but the actual endgame content is much more fun.

End story was not why many played d2. Personally for me the story quickly become irrelevant. What kept me around was the economy and pvp.

It was why many more skilled players stuck around. Finding a soj was nice and all but for vast majority of time I concentrated on perfecting duelers. Before getting hacked and quitting I had like 3-4 duelers with things like 45 paladin combat lifers sets, perfect torch anni, 08 perms that even 10 years ago were going for thousands of fg on jsp.

The fun became stomping out full rooms of duelers rather than Baal runs.

D3 was garbage because they ruined the economy. It was a colossal miscalculation on their part. You need a barter system for the perfectionists.

I clicked through a couple of these in the off chance that you finally had a real point to make.

Walmart is marxist? Really?

Walmart opened grocery chains in urban areas with the explicit purpose of forcing competition out of the market before closing them at a huge loss.

Walmart has closed stores when they tried to unionize. At a huge loss.

Your idea of Marxism is any company making a token effort to promote diversity because you’re a sad Reddit incel who sucks propaganda out of your phone like it was your dad’s dick.

Idea went over yourhead because you are too big brain.

“Pretend to be marxist”

The aesthetic of the game was the most important part. The kills and the sound effects and the lore and the big tit amazon were just SATISFYING to play. Its almost like theyve purposefully sucked the life out of newer adaptations.

The newer versions have “better” of all of that but it never answers the question “why should I care?”. It isnt compelling or aesthetic storytelling.

Who said anything about story? You had to do runs in order to get items worth trading and to level up efficiently. Farming items was incredibly tedious because they did a crappy job on the supply side.

The only reason why the game was relevant was because of scarcity of the supply side. Top tier items need to be scarce, exclusive and hard to get, otherwise the chase which makes the game fun is not there.

I mean the proof is in the pudding, right? The fact that high runes, 40/15s, etc. were duped like crazy seems to indicate that they messed up the drop rates.

Indeed they need to be rare, but D2 went way overboard.

If you want near perfect itemization you need to look at PoE. Honestly, they've got that shit down to a science.

Duping being proof of that is the same as saying people hack in shooter games because it’s impossible to get kills otherwise. Simply not true.

People duped (for a relative short time until it got patched) because there was scarcity of those elite items and you can leverage that and trade them for other items you may need.

I played the game for like 2-3 years and managed to gear 3 characters with perfect gear like perfect lifer grand charms 20/5 scs and so on. I got there because I become fairly good at trading. Never dropped a dime on the game.

Sounds like your experience was just more focused on pvm and you kind of missed that element of the game which was the trading system, which is fine. Point is, if you were playing the game and expecting to become very good without using the trade system to get scarce items, you weren’t going get too far.

wat

The whole point of pvm is SO YOU CAN TRADE. Given that you only played for 2-3 years, it appears that you weren't around to see the various eras.

In 3 years I managed to get literally sets of perfect charms/gear. I even had an 08 valk that was worth lime 15-16k fg at that time (patch 1.11-1.12 ish)

Like I said mate sounds like you kind of missed the boat on the potential of the trading system.
