People who played sports understand it was for personal development and how to play gracefully. People fixated on who wins and loses in these games are losers themselves who clearly are missing the point.

lol

one of the dumber takes I've seen

Sports are intrinsically competitive. This logic doesn't even hold true for 6-year-olds who get frustrated and throw a fit if they lose some game.

Let them play against the men and find out why the guys are paid more, you'll also see which side will lose embarrassingly.

Take the aussie mathildas as an example they got crushed 7 nil vs an under 15 yo boys team https://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-05-28/matildas-face-backlash-after-loss-to-boys-team/7456458

lol quote from article:

my mens soccer team in highschool did an annual game of volleyball against the varsity volleyball team. we never practiced, we never lost. mostly using underhand serves.

High school sports is about learning teamwork and building character.

Anyone here besides me ever actually play sports?

Yes, a ton of them and my goal was to demolish the other player and win. I was not thinking about how I was developing as a person. No one is thinking about that. If we were going to lose a game I spent the last few minutes putting additional effort into ear holing as many people as possible to cause as much injury as possible. If I'm not going to win I'm going to leave the field knowing some of them didn't walk off it. That was the mindset.

I cannot take your posts seriously. You pretty much say that because it's high school only you shouldn't care if someone has an unfair advantage because the point is to grow as a person.

I don't think you're a loser for focusing on winning or losing a game when as a teenager you're mindset is not on personal growth it's on triumph and if you lose you get to be pissed off and than the next day you calm and review game tape. That was my experience and maybe I'm just bias because I enjoyed it.

High school is piss and vinegar. Now in rec league sports I couldn't care less what is between your legs as long as everyone gets some playtime and no one acts like a dick just because someone is bad. High school you have cuts and tryouts because the objective is winning. If you're not good and cant contribute to a winning team you're not allowed on it.

imagine someone in highschool saying "guys guys, we lost, and we're 0-26 on the season, but just think of how much we grew as people". they'd be beaten in the showers with soap in socks, and the coach would join in.

i agree, in all context except sports, menstruation, and child birth.

i give them leeway to call themselves whatever they want and i'll follow suit, wear whatever they want within societal laws, identify in flux even.

i draw the line at one bowling over my daughter some day on a soccer field and destroying her self esteem, and i put a mask on and leave their father toothless if one dares to beat up my daughter. if its a bio female i call the principal in the latter situation and tell her to dust herself off in the former. i dont tell my crying daughter that its ok because sports are just for her to personally development so her getting embarrassed doesnt matter because she's not army bound.

What about your son bowling over some trans girl who is just trying to play ball but keeps getting stuck with the boys. Should she be on the shirts or skins?

Seems fair. /s

That is the role of the grown up. Yes, we were all sociopathic in high school, some of us grew out of it and don't want our kids being sadists.

Did I step on hands after a pileup? Yes. Did I pinch fatty arms on tie ups? Yes. But then here I see a bunch of people who double down that it is ok to fucking shoot somebody if you're scared and losing a fight so it seems to be fake swag imo.

Idc I'm not talking about the POV of egocentric children.

I hope you have grown since high school. Most of us have.

School sports are for character development but it seems to have failed some of us. Sports are not for kids to hurt each other lol.

the topic is the competitive nature of trans athletes in sports, mtf trans are unfair to bio females, ftm trans are never going to compete at any real level.

if i had a son in that situation, and i dont, i'd punish them for doing that. i can respect trans people while also recognizing unfair situations. something you dont seem capable of.

In a serious country, we wouldn't ask a clearly mentally ill man what his thoughts were on such an absurd question to begin with.

Homophobia and transphobia isn't fear. It's disgust. When normal people witness homosexuality and gender dysphoria they experience something akin to seeing roadkill or insects.

Stop welcoming clearly insane people to the table.

My sig says differently.

I said youth sports are about learning teamwork and building character. You say you respect trans athletes while you advocate banning half from playing and dismissing the other half as non competitive/viable.

You put words in my mouth and tell me I'm doing the thing you just did.

Cool bro.

The lines drawn, and what really doesn't matter are the conversations here.

Sure but you are in the POV of a high school student. You're not in the future looking back going through the high school actions again, and you're not some enlightened teenager looking for a team building experience.

Honestly you might have one of the most outlandish perspectives of competitive sports I have ever come across.

You either didnt play, forgot what it was like or were on some D level team that never had a chance at winning to begin with.

Competitive sports function to be competitive and they're awesome. Triumph is in itself its own character building and tossing it all on the line to try to win because of the desire to win is also character building.

No actually wants a participation trophy and just because you get pissed off on the field because you tossed your all at something and it makes you into a competitive animal does not mean that makes you some sadist that carries into everyday actions. I dont earhold Beth at the copier because she cant get me a monthly report on time.
