Companies can't donate money, because that's influencing a result, but a political party can pay operatives to sit outside polling booths and give away free stuff in an attempt to influence voters?
I oppose both, here in australia the political parties are not allowed within 100 metres of the polls and can pretty much only hand out how to vote cards we can ignore if we want.
