So what. If you appeal you have to either front all the money or have a bond company front the money but you still end up tossing up 15-20% and having to put up collateral for the bond company to use to ensure they're safe. Presumably realestate as collateral.

Do I think the USA has some of the most absurde punitive damage numbers and legal costs and court awards, absolutely. It's almost comedic. But does not change the fact he definitely got fucked.

The reason Trump got hit with high punitive damages is not because he's Trump. It's because he flaunts his wealth and continues to defame her even after he already lost a court case for defaming her.

and it's hilarious that you think Trump got worse treatment when Trump consistently, even in this case, dodges sanctions. He tried to testify that he thought the case was a sham, even when he was instructed that he is not allowed to testify against things that have already been decided in court, and stormed out interrupting the proceedings. Anybody else would have spent a night in jail.
