You dont believe I am "that opinionated", because I am not.
I read about this a few hours ago right in this thread and commented. Never heard of the case ever before.

Again, I dont care what the hobo said or which color his skin had. All I know is that some dude killed him. And that is not a reason to call that dude a hero.

I think it is absolutely sick how people react to shit like that. A normal reaction that normal people should have to this is sadness. Its sad that this happened. Nothing is heroic about this.

People are fanatic these days - in all directions. Left, right, people are dumb as fuck and exaggerated emotions is all they offer. No common sense, no humanity, just stupid fights about whos right.

So you honestly think a man is fanatic in this situation? You think the only reaction should be to feel bad for the guy threatening innocent people’s lives?

A crazed drug addict is on a subway car explicitly threatening to kill random passengers. “Somebody is going to die today” “I am going back to jail today”. Passengers are cowering in fear from their own testimony. Passengers fear for their life from their own testimony. Penny prevented people from being killed from their testimony. The man was known by locals to be randomly violent towards strangers. It is a documented fact he has attacked people for no reason in the recent past. Yes, nobody knew that but it is a fact this man hurts random passers by for absolutely no reason.

So a lunatic who is known for attacking innocent people threatens to kill innocent people and the reaction should be to sit back and let it happen, because it’s just sad.

You can sit back and feel sad while a crazy lunatic kills the guy next to you. That is the reaction of a coward. Daniel Penny is a hero.

It should matter what he said. He very clearly made a threat about killing people. People were justified in reacting to this threat.

Sure, but I dont care what he said in the sense of something to justify the death of him. Which cant be justified.

Well, it's like I said, nobody is cheering that the hobo died. People are cheering that innocent people didn't get hurt.

His death is most likely unintentional.

So far your retort is that the correct action is to simply feel sadness. Do you refute this?

I think he probably thinks they should have called the police instead.

Sadness is what you should feel when you read about it. No action can be performed if it already happened. As for the "hero": Everything but death would be fine. Whats so hard to understand? I dont know why this is even a discussion. Whats going on with you people? You act like the only punishment for threatening people is death...are you crazy?

You are underground, inside a train car, where lives are immediately in that moment in danger.

Now we feel sad and wait until the car stops at a station for cellphone signal.

I am not saying they should have called the police. I am just trying to guess what Modulok is thinking.

The marine probably did not intend to kill the hobo. He merely used too much force.

There was no punishment. People merely tried to prevent the hobo from harming others but unfortunately the arrest went wrong and killed him.

Although, sometimes it is appropriate to kill someone who exhibits threatening behavior. The police are instructed to shoot to kill someone who is brandishing a knife menacingly.
