so even going back to 1995, you couldn't find a SINGLE case where someone was arrested for "free speech that the government didn't like"? will you admit you were lying when you made that claim?

No and no. There are many instances. I talked about the laws regrading it.

also, this is NOT a pissing contest, YOU tried to act like germany was a "repressive government" while in fact, germans enjoy more freedom than americans.

this is arguable at best.
You dont even have the freedom to arm yourself against criminals.

yes, americans have MORE freedom when it comes to glorifying hitler and the 3rd reich, spreading nazi ideology, and hate speech in general - that much is true. but acting like that alone makes america "free" and germany "repressive" is nothing short of moronic and factually wrong.

And there it is.
You finally admit it after several posts of dick waving and insults and pretending I was wrong

At no point do i pretend america is totally free or that the government is great.
Im one of the most outspoken and flagrantly anti-regulation pro-liberty posters here.. constantly criticizing the US government.

Crazy restrictions on speech and self defense among other things are repressive, and as they are expanding it is becoming increasingly more repressive. as I said.

the first link includes NO one "arrested for free speech that the government doesn't like".

the second link is about someone who was sentenced in 1995, arrested in america, where he was DENIED political asylum - for systematically and repeatedly denying the holocaust.
this is NOT a "regressive government arresting people for speech they don't like", this is a government enforcing a LAW concerning holocaust denial. you don't even notice what you're defending here, do you?

you ARE wrong and dishonest, completely misrepresenting what actually happens, even trying to suggest i EVER said americans DON'T have more freedom when it comes to hate speech and nazi ideology...

but sure, keep ignoring the fact that you live in an actually repressive government that incarcerates almost 9 times (!) as many ppl per capita and has less overall freedom (!), and tell yourself that getting away with holocaust denial makes up for it...

yes explicitly recognizing and dedicating most of my posts to the fact that the US government does bad shit too is really me 'ignoring' it. you caught me.

as I said, 'buttt your govt does stuff too' is a ridiculous nationalistic deflection. the topic is the german government restricting speech, which is a reality that you have ACTUALLY been skirting around.

exactly. it's completely irrelevant if the current government and the individuals it consists of "like" it or not, it's a law that was implemented for a reason - and a court decided he repeatedly, deliberately, and systematically acted against it, hence he was sentenced.
how that makes germany a "regressive government" is your secret, but either way it makes your claim a LIE.

unlike what you suggested in your previous post, i made it clear from the beginning that i acknowledge that germany is STRICTER in that regard than most other countries. i think i don't have to explain the historic background to you, and although i personally think it's a good thing, i can see the argument against it.
but again, every nation restricts free speech at some point and overall germany has still more freedom, if you like it or not.

It's also the premise that leads to a safe and stable society.
