God it's nice having a fan.
Actually submitting my second round of applications today. Even if I don't get in I'll just keep applying. I'll get in eventually.
Unfortunately there's a lot of competition right now largely because we don't open many medical schools. The number of applicants has gone WAY WAY up. If I applied 15 years ago my MCAT would be enough to get me in without much of a second though. Now it's all about experience, and unfortunately since I grew up in a household that brought in less than 20k a year I had basically no financial assistance in college. Government grants covered my tuition, but I still had to work full time to pay the bills and avoid having ~12k a year added on as a result of room and board.
I'll get in eventually and I'll bring an experience profile that isn't common at all to medical schools.
It is tough. My friend had to go to school in the Carribean and my other friend became doctor of osteopathic med.
If you want it enough, I think you'll find a way.

We were talking about CNN.
Uhh, I grew up in rural Missouri, and still live there. I'm hardly in liberal land.
Teachers in Missouri tend to be post-bac women that strongly slant Democrat. The youth really get slammed with an outpour of Dem ideas early on, I don't know if that is what you experienced or not.
