Meat-based agriculture is far too heavy of a tax generator for the state government, and given they've already fucked the lumber market, and the pandemic damage to the state budgets, they're bleeding right now. You don't understand. The State Legislature is not afraid because the overwhelming majority are rural farmers. Many are ranchers.
