I guess it's no surprise at this point, but Conte has now confirmed that Italy's quarantine will extend beyond the 3rd of April.

yo, how is spain's laissez-faire approach working out so far? you were so proud of your leadership, i'm wondering if you still think it's good that they didn't 'give a fuck about that stupid virus'?

What are the chances of this 1000$ “economic stimulus” ubi going through?

There will be riots if it doesn’t go through.

Expect complete lockdown in the US except hospital work and grocery trips within 48 hours.

You have the feeling it starts to explode ?

1k$ but what about hospitals bills ? any measure ?
I means the % of "critical" who survive is much more than 2%... This means alot of emergency money... and people.

Like I said the other day, they chickened out and that's the worst thing to do. Either you go for a preemptive approach or you go for herd immunity. Waiting until it blows up and then going on quarantine mode only makes matters worse.

Doing nothing is the best way to make sure you get all the negative effects with no advantage. People won't work if they are sick regardless, so putting them on a quarantine doesn't have as much negative effect as you would think, and it comes with the added cost of funneling way more people into the hospital system than it can handle which just compounds the problem.

The chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee warned a small group of well-connected constituents three weeks ago to prepare for dire economic and societal effects of the coronavirus, according to a secret recording obtained by NPR.

Quote
"There's one thing that I can tell you about this: It is much more aggressive in its transmission than anything that we have seen in recent history," he said, according to a secret recording of the remarks obtained by NPR. "It is probably more akin to the 1918 pandemic."

The luncheon had been organized by the Tar Heel Circle, a nonpartisan group whose membership consists of businesses and organizations in North Carolina, the state Burr represents. Membership to join the Tar Heel Circle costs between $500 and $10,000 and promises that members "enjoy interaction with top leaders and staff from Congress, the administration, and the private sector," according to the group's website.

Burr has a unique perspective on the government's response to a pandemic, and not just because of his role as Intelligence Committee chairman. He helped to write the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA), which forms the framework for the federal response.

How interesting. So they knew almost a full month how bad it was, and they were still downplaying it. But Burr's donors got the scoop, wonder how much they made on it.

Yes. Pay attention to sports more often. Those people are the ones who will finally get hit with income insecurity. Just wait for the match to hit the gasoline.

Comes back to what my dad says about stock trading. Buy the rumors, sell the news, the insiders have already made money by the time the public gets wind of whats happening.
