no damage reports from either set of attacks of course since militaries don't want to admit to it

but seems we can now say Iranian attack killed 1 palestinian (to debris from Israeli interceptor), and Israeli attack killed 2 iranian soldiers
In human costs these don't even come close to the cross border salvos on either Israel or Lebanon from that front, let alone the actual bombings campaign vs Gaza or October 7th

Better like that

Fireworks typically end with a big crescendo of big and epic explosions... do you guys know that moment where there is one lagging cracker which explodes after the big finale and is just a pathetic dud, ending the fireworks on a muted boop instead of a big bang?

Tonight's attack feels like this boop.

Anyone purchasing missiles from Iran will be frustrated, as we’ve significantly impacted their production capabilities in the near term—particularly Russia, with it’s S-300 and S-400 anti-aircraft systems that showed worthless, The fact that 100 aircraft entered Iranian airspace, bombed their factories, anti aircrafts systems and returned without incident underscores their lack of defense.

??

The Israeli planes didn't enter Iranian space as far as i know, didn't they launch over Iraq/Syria mostly? S-400s are pretty formidable but if planes launch from safe distances, obviously they wouldn't be able to hit the planes.

First, what’s the purpose of anti-aircraft defenses if they can be destroyed from a distance?

Israel reportedly penetrated Iranian airspace yesterday, with videos circulating and reports from Arab countries confirming the operation.

This from 2022 shows the vulnerability:

AA tends to be layered in functionality. You wouldn't use a S-400 to shoot down a 10k drone, they're expensive and reserved for high value targets the way i understand it. Modern cruise/ballistic missiles can be fired from very long and safe distances, i.e. western border of Iraq or in Syria. IMO this doesn't mean the AA system is bad or useless, it just means they either 1. don't want to expose high value AA system location by firing it or 2. It's not worth intercepting a missile from cost/benefit analysis. These systems are literally worth billions, Iran if they have them would be dumb to take the bait and expose their location at this point in my opinion

Okay you are right, Iran is safe and Israel cannot do anything in Iran
No value target was destroyed and no s400 was destroyed

I’m just saying, a military can be selective in and with what they both defend and attack. Can’t show your full hand at first sight of trouble.

Breakdown of Operation Days of Repentance:
(As always none ofnthis is confirmed untill sat imagery)

100 f15/f35s launched a multitude of albms/cruise missles from iraqi airspace (afaik no israeli jets entered Iranian territory but its entirely possible that they did) the targets included but are not limited to:

Multiple MIM23 HAWK SAM sites
A Factory Complex within the Shamsabad Industrial City
Atleast one S-300PMU2 battery
Multiple s200 batteries
Multiple radar systems all across the xountry ( of varying types)
Drone factories
Missle factories
Targets in syria and iraq ( still murky on the details)
Some insurgents launched drones near tehran but most got shot down by ww2 era 35mm flak lol

Pros:
israel can launch missles from outside Iranian airspace with zero worry.
Perfectly measured response, where iran will seem like the aggressor if it retaliates.
Iranian aa/ad and drone/missle production got hit hard and israel would theoretically have an easier time if they wanted to do a double tap (unlikely)

Cons:
Took WAY too long to retaliate (didnt need 3ish weeks for this)
Iranians are claming this was a nothing burger as tehran was mostly unscathed
Gallant and others were hyping this up as the end of irans economy

So all in all i give it a 7.5/10
