If you could choose between spending time with your family or working, which would you pick?

Spend 5% less days per year working
Or earn 42% more annual income

the 42% more annual income is the arithmetic mean. take away some super rich billionaires and CEOs and the ordinary workers in the US dont earn much more than the ordinary workers in countries like france of germany.

your data is wrong, completely wrong.

Im letting you figure out the hours worked per working day.

And about your 42 %... Well, it's probably nullified by all social cares, public services etc...

Not to mention the american average income is completely a joke regarding its GINI index

Using mean instead of average does just that. Mean (median) income in the US 43% higher than in France. I know income is not GDP, but I was unable to find mean GDP per capita, probably because such a statistic would be next to impossible to quantify, so I am left with the loose link between income and productivity.

You wouldn't want to send your kids to the best colleges in the world?

bullshit. the term "mean" is an umbrella term for all kinds of measures of central position/tendency in a sample, random variable distribution or a numerical series. if someone is talking about the median, it's common practice to actually call it "median". when a source is refering to the "mean" of something without further specification, it's safe to assume they are talking about the arithmetic mean.
