Still the amount of power used to mine BTC and cryptos AROUND THE WORLD is minimal compared to many other things. Minimal. So hating on cryptos using the environment excuse is actually lame. Its not like in all cities in the world EVERYONE has a mining farm and all power from all cities are being used to mine cryptos. Come on... the percentage of worldwide electric power used for cryptos is minuscule.

Google/Wiki says worldwide in 2012 was around 20,000 Twh

Cryptocurrency mining also according to a quick google search is using 50-75 Twh/year.

So less than a percent is dedicated to bitcoin, but that's just one currency and I'd be willing to bet the rest combined will bring it up to a full percentage point.

So yeah, minuscule now, but if it increases it has the potential to be a significant suck worldwide.

It might as well. BTC is digital Gold. Yes, we are in a bear market and it will drop to $1k, but it will rise to unimaginable value in the future.

Btc is an abomination lottery, it can be wiped out by unpredictable hackers or blackout, it's sucking out so much electricity people should be put in prison just for gambling with it considering the harm to environment, and is massively used by criminal.

"the future"

BTC is no replacement currency for anything anytime soon, but this is just blatantly false. You should not comment on things you have very little understanding of.

Some dingus said BTC could eventually break 20k while any hack is able to make its value plunge.
Any major crisis would wipe it out, or even any massive cyber attack, and i perfectly know what im talking about.

Isolating the problematic to the chain itself will not guarantee any redundancy in the real world
It's like saying the data is safe while anyone can enter into the servers rooms and cut the cables or/and destroy the racked material.

I doubt it will happen any time soon.

It will likely maintain a minimal value, but unless mainstream investors really get on board again it wont drove up demand required to keep them at a high value
