In the past week it was a dust up between streamers Hasan Piker and Asmongold, with the former hosting an interview with an actual Houthi pirate and hostage taker and overtly supporting his terrorism, streaming houthi propaganda videos and posting a bunch of anti-semitic stuff. Asmon on the opposite side derided it and said he didn't give a fuck about Palestinians or Houthis and their inferior culture- Asmongold was banned, Hasan was not.
All pretty boring. Supposedly a 2 week ban and he quits in a fit, who cares. BUT today it got interesting with this novel development;

This leak seems a deliberate attempt by the Biden admin to dissuade Israel from carrying out this strike. Kinda similar to the start of the Ukraine war when the US government kept spoiling upcoming Russian propaganda talking points 1-2 days before the Russians used them.


What I'm not so sure about is if the Biden admin is mostly driven by genuine concern about a runaway escalation in the ME, or by political motives. An escalation of violence in the ME would raise the salience of the Gaza issue, which is dividing the Democrats' base and turning off many young progressives from them. Also, Trump is currently winning, so if war in the ME sucks up all the oxygen in the news cycle, they'll have a harder time catching up. But then again, I'm not quite convinced that Biden really gives a damn about Kamala's chances anymore...
