Over 74 million people voted for Trump in 2020. For the candidate of the Republican party. Do you think "virtually no"ne of them place great importance on norms (or laws)? Or are you already taking into account that the amount of his supporters may have shrunken during the last 2 years? If so, is whatever is left sufficient to win an election?
That's almost a quarter of the entire American population. A not so tiny fraction of them will care.
When you poll people if they think norms and laws are important and must be upheld, or even just ask them in an everyday conversation, then nearly 100% of them will answer yes. This does not mean that they actually vote or act on it. People are massive hypocrites. All of them.
You didn't read my post carefully enough btw.
Virtually none of the voters who place
great importance on norms will still support Trump.
Virtually no Trump supporters will care about
abstract norm violations (where the actual substance of the accusation is unknown).

If it's SCI, that's a pretty strong indicator that if it was public, it would cause severe harm to America from a national security perspective. Is there a type of SCI content that would be considered "acceptable" to Trump voters vs. "unacceptable?"
No idea, probably not. But again: without knowing the concrete details, this kind of stuff just won't get people to question, let alone change, their opinion.
